In South Africa, Johannesburg police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kay Makhubela has confirmed that a case of theft at Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's home is being investigated. Reports suggest that the anti-apartheid struggle stalwart found that 83,000 rand ($6,000, £4,600) cash which she was given at her recent 80th birthday party had gone missing. "We’re investigating a case of theft of cash whereby the money was stolen in a house from Orlando West. So far no suspects have been arrested and we’re continuing with our investigation," the spokesman said. It adds that she discovered the alleged theft when she wanted to get money for someone to go and buy some bread. She had been planning to deposit it at the bank soon, reports say.
