It has become apparent that the Nigeria
Football Federation cannot fund the Super Eagles for its 2018 FIFA World Cup
qualifying match against Zambia on October 9, the Senate has charged the
Ministry of Sport to bail the FA out.
President of the FA, Amaju Pinnick had been
quoted during a Senate Sports Committee hearing as per African Football as
explaining the dire plight of the Federation He said:“We have a sound technical
crew and our players are doing well, but the missing link is a financial
incapacitation ,” Pinnick disclosed.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sport,Senator Obinna Ogba, in a series of
twitter tread made a case for the Cash strapped federation. “Senator Obinna
Ogba raises a Point of Order on the upcoming Nigeria – Zambia Football Match.
He says @thenff is unable to sponsor the match.” “Senator Ogba says an urgent
intervention needs to be made to ensure that the @NGSuperEagles come tops in
the football encounter.” “DSP Ike Ekweremadu now says that the Senate
#YouthAndSportsCttee should immediately meet with Minister @SolomonDalung to
resolve the issue.”
