MANCHESTER UNITED COAST PAST LEICESTER CITY.

Manchester United produced a blistering first-half performance as Premier League champions Leicester City were swept aside at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho's side without Wayne Rooney, who was dropped to the bench were 4-0 in front by the break thanks to goals from Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and ‘’finally’’ Paul Pogba, who finally opened his United account.  Yet Leicester, who reached the interval in a state of disarray, had caused United several anxious moments through Danny Drinkwater and Daniel Amartey  efforts before Smalling's (Acting Captain)  breakthrough.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri rang the changes at the break, bringing on Andy King and Gray for star men Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez with an eye on their midweek Champions League meeting with Porto. The champions pulled a goal back when Gray's fabulous strike from outside the area flew past David De Gea and into the top corner.

Manchester United’s JM with eight minutes left on the clock, deployed Captain Wayne Rooney into the fray as a substitute for goal-scorer Rashford, with Ashley Young replacing Mata a few minutes later.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho (JM):
"Today we had intensity, movement and dynamism. To be back home and beat the champions is good. Last season we couldn't beat them and this season we have beaten them twice already."
Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri (CR):
"It is not possible to concede three goals from corners. That means you are not concentrating. We are usually very solid at corners and free-kicks, it was very strange. Until now we have been very strong, we have made some mistakes. I can understand that they score with headers, that they are very tall, but to score a smart goal from a corner is not possible.
"It is important to clean our mind and get ready for the Champions League on Tuesday."
