The nastiest lines in the US presidential debate

Image result for clinton and trump

His campaign on the ropes, Donald Trump came out in the second presidential debate throwing verbal haymakers at Hillary Clinton.

The Sunday night showdown in St. Louis had been billed as the Republican nominee's last, best chance to stop the bleeding and put Clinton back on her heels. And from the open, he blitzed Clinton with a series of barbed attacks and a jarring threat.

Here were Trump's most pointed attacks -- and Clinton's rejoinders.

"It's just awfully good that someone with the temperament of Donald Trump is not in charge of the law in our country," Clinton said.
"You'd be in jail," Trump responded.

Trump on his lewd comments about women:

"This was locker room talk. I'm not proud of it. I apologized to my family and I apologized to the American people. Certainly I'm not proud of it. But this is locker room talk. You know when you have a world where we have ISIS chopping off heads ... where you have so many bad things happening, this is like medieval times," Trump said.

Trump accuses Hillary Clinton of enabling Bill Clinton:

"There's never been anybody in the history of politics in this nation that's been so abusive to women. So you can say any way you want to say it, but Bill Clinton was abusive to women. Hillary Clinton attacked those same women and attacked them viciously," Trump said.

Donald Trump has one more chance to save his flailing White House campaign.

Trump will square off Sunday night against Hillary Clinton in the second presidential debate, an opportunity to look the nation in the eye and express genuine contrition for lewd and sexually aggressive comments about women he made a decade ago. New revelations emerged Saturday after CNN's Kfile reviewed hours of newly uncovered audio of demeaning conversations Trump held over a 17-year period with radio shock-jock Howard Stern.

The developments have tipped the Republican Party into chaos. Dozens of elected Republicans in Washington and state capitals around the country have condemned Trump -- and many have called for him to step aside. His own running mate, Mike Pence, said Saturday he can't defend Trump's comments.

Meanwhile, Clinton has largely stayed quiet, letting the turmoil in the GOP unfold and preparing to address the controversy publicly for the first time before an audience of millions.

In fact, the revelation came to the fore in the early hours of Saturday when the news of planned hush-hush wedding of Femi, first son of veteran Yoruba actor, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello, broke on social media.

The soft-spoken actor will tie the knot with his US-based partner, a businesswoman is simply known as Maimunat, anytime from now.

It was rumored that his first marriage crashed due to his philandering habits and some people even speculated he was involved with Funke Akindele at the time. However, both parties vehemently denied the allegations.

Reacting to the allegations, Femi said in an interview that Khadijat divorced him because she didn’t support his acting career and he would not be getting married to a second wife but to a ‘brand new wife soon.’

Congratulations to them!!!

SANs condemn DSS crackdown on judges

We are not in 1984

The Federal Government should know that this is not 1984. By 1984, I refer to that year and the dystopian novel written by George Orwell on dictatorship. Nigeria is a country ruled by law and even for the worst of crimes, we must follow the process of law. If we don’t, we will end up like Uganda under the autocrat, Idi Amin. We cannot bear such oppression. So, whatever the DSS is doing must be in line with the dictates of the law. Under no circumstance should they try to invade a judge’s residence at 9 or 10pm, wielding weapons and wearing masks. It is totally deplorable. It is abhorrent and what we must all know is that they are infringing on the rights of people. The courts exist for a reason.  This system of law enforcement seems to be discriminatory, whimsical and contrary to the rule of law. It won’t get us anywhere as a country. It is the worst form of corruption you can think of. It is not right. In Pakistan, the chief judge of the country decided that since the military government was not obeying the law, there was no point in the courts carrying on and it became a flashpoint in that country.— Dr. Kanyinsola Ajayi (SAN).
